Christmas Decorations – Making Music…

Here is an update on my Bauble project!

I aged my sheet music and left it to dry, then cut into random shapes.

These shapes were glued to the polystyrene balls, and then left to dry.  They look great so far, I am really happy with them.  I will add another coat of paper as there are a couple of small gaps, and I will also add some red ribbon to hang them from the tree.

The final addition will be a dusting of some gorgeous iridescent glitter which arrived today, and I am itching to open!

Original Post:

So after pinning what feels like hundreds of ideas, I have started to shortlist a few projects to try.

The first is some sheet music baubles.  I have some foam balls at home, which Miss D dipped in glitter to make homemade baubles as gifts for the grandparents last year (Note to self: NEVER leave a two year old any where near a pot of glitter – its gets everywhere…..).

My plan is to create some vintage style baubles in the style of the images below.

I have started by downloading some Christmas sheet music – I found a website called 8notes, that offers good quality printables.

I printed these onto plain paper, then to ‘age’ the paper I will revert back to my school days – by dipping into brewed tea for a couple of minutes (not too long otherwise the print will disappear!).

Once dry, I will cut into strips and used PVA glue to stick to the baubles.  Depending on how well the paper adheres to the ball, I may do several layers, leaving to dry between each one.

I will coat in glue once finished, to protect and give it a sheen, and possibly also add some glitter…..!

Once I have finished I will post some photo’s to show you.

Wall paper paste might work as well may be cheaper too
